In the heart of Deep Ellum lies Club Dada, a Dallas venue with over two decades of history. This small venue boasts a large patio, a solid sound system and a stage built for any genre for any day of the week. By any day, I mean any, as Monday brought Canadian artists Junior Boys, Jessy Lanza and Borys into the nightlife hub, turning Monday night into a spectacle of techno, 80’s synth pop and electronic rock.

Borys brought modular synthesizers and analog vibes to the club transforming the early 8 o’clock set time into a power hour of techno, vibrating the brick walls. His stage may have only been a white table, but his presence was electric as he clapped, danced and prepared the crowd for a wild and eclectic night.

Jessy Lanza traded the modular synth for live drums and keyboards as she and her drummer (which for the life of me I can’t remember her name) took to the stage meshing 80’s synth pop with 2016 R&B. Not only was it awesome to see two women performing music overrun by male acts, but incorporating a live performance was the cherry on top.

While the Junior Boys encompass the electronic rock genre, the live show makes them one of a kind. With a vibe similar to MGMT, the Junior Boys incorporated a live light show while the lighting technician joined on stage. He isn’t stuck in the back, he stands in the light just like the musicians. The falsetto vocals matched the flashing lights, the guitar riffs reverberated through the crowd and the band turned Club Dada into a perfect Monday night adventure.
