Everything to Do This Valentine’s Day ❤️

Okay, maybe not everything. Some quirky fun stuff, I swear. Plus some food.

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching, which means you need some plans, fast. It’s like the dam broke and the gate is open, and couples are making a mad dash to find something to do. Please, God, give us something to do; we’ve been isolating since the before-times.

But don’t worry—some of Dallas’s best restaurants and specialty shops are going all out to ensure you have a great evening, whether you’re spending it out or at home.

See below for specifics, then gather your spouse, partner, friends or whoever, because everyone deserves to feel the love on Valentine’s Day.

FUN STUFF TO EAT

KATE WEISER CHOCOLATE
Nothing says Valentine’s Day quite like chocolates, and no one makes chocolates quite like Kate Weiser. Gift your Valentine (or yourself) an extra special box of treats this year, like the hand-painted chocolate hearts. The eye-catching hearts contain various fillings, including one with peanut butter gianduja, candied peanuts and strawberry, and another with white chocolate yuzu ganache, lemon marshmallow and raspberry.

Kate’s got the good stuff.

SAINT ROCCO’S
Spend Valentine’s Day with Saint Rocco’s, and you have two options.

  • Enjoy a romantic dinner featuring a special three-course menu that starts with a beautiful Strawberry Arugula Salad before moving to a His and Hers Surf & Turf and then a chocolate combo plate for dessert.
  • Or head upstairs for Chocolate on the Rooftop, an intimate evening featuring chocolate and Champagne on the third-floor deck. Indulge in sweets, bubbles and a hot cocoa bar.

SHELL SHACK
I’d totally eat this, but I’ve been in a seafood mood ALL WEEK. All DFW-area Shell Shacks are serving up a special date night seafood platter for two on February 14. Diners will receive one pound of snow crab, one pound of king crab and one pound of boiled shrimp, plus sausages, potatoes and corn. All platters are served with hand-cut fries, hushpuppies and a choice of two side sauces. To wash it all down, Shell Shack is throwing in a complimentary bottle of champagne with each combo platter purchase. $92.99.

TK’S
Addison’s new all-in-one restaurant, bar and comedy club is offering two distinct experiences on Saturday, February 12, so you can enjoy Valentine’s Day regardless of your relationship status.

  • Head to TK’s for a romantic dinner under a canopy of twinkling lights. Partake in a special menu, share a bottle of wine and then stick around for the comedy show to follow.
  • No date? No problem! Bring your best gal pals to TK’s for a Galentine’s Party. Enjoy a complimentary glass of Champagne, two-for-one cocktails on tap, live music and treats. Wear red or pink, and enter to win a huge “Girly Gift Bag” worth $500.

FUN STUFF TO DO

It really is majestic.

NEW: BE MAJESTIC—BE, BE MAJESTIC

Lyric Stage will celebrate Black History Month with RAGTIME in Concert February 17 through 20, 2022 at the Majestic Theatre. Based on E.L. Doctorow’s 1975 novel, award-winning RAGTIME confronts history’s timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, and what it means to live in America. $38

GET MARRIED

I mean, you may as well, right? Elope with a bunch of other couples on Monday, February 14, 2022. $225 per couple, in Dallas.

GO DEEP

The Deep Ellum Valentine’s Mimosa Walk is back again. From 12 – 3:30 pm, you’ll get a commemorative glass to prove you braved nutty weather to down barely-juiced mims. Dress for the occasion.

BAAAA

I’m still obsessed with goat yoga and I still haven’t done it, so someone let me know if my fun-radar is off when I keep talking about how ADORABLE and FUN it must be to stretch with baby goats running around. Am I misguided? Here’s another chance in Arlington on Sat Feb 12, 11 – 12 noon. $20 – $34, kids are on the low end of that cost.

THE HORROR

Cutting Edge (Feb 12 & 14) and Hangman’s (Feb 11, 12 & 13) are celebrating another blood-red holiday with chainsaws and jump scares for DFW Valentine’s Day fun in 2022.

MOVE IT AND LOSE IT

Run, but also walk, to sign up for Love on the Run, a 5K/10K dealio that starts off at the Toyota Music Factory in Irving. Starts off at the butt-crack of dawn, like all of these runs do.

THE GAYLORD HOTEL

Don’t look at me that way. It’s not creepy to suggest a hotel to celebrate our love—it’s Valentine’s Day, ain’t it? Plus, I’m a fangirl of the Gaylord, I admit, and they are doing Gaylord WinterFest activities running through February 27, 2022. Always lots to do and see, and I didn’t get to go over the Christmas holiday and I’m sad.

DENTON BLACK FILM FESTIVAL

Because I love Denton and Black people too, I’m not waiting to tell you about the Denton Black Film Festival. It kicks off January 27 and runs through February 6, which is almost practically Valentine’s Day, so celebrate with important film and culture in one of my favorite towns: Denton, Texas.

I’m impressed at how things are starting to open up again and that we might be blessedly getting back into events and fun stuff.

Nothing like a pandemic to kill all the fun. Good to see the four of you readers again.

It’s hard to tell what’s legit these days, so make sure you are checking links and checking them TWICE, making sure your ticket dollars are going to the right people. And every restaurant is calling dinner an EVENT, so read all the details before laying down bucks.
