On any given weekend, countless DFW locations host the growing nightlife scene of the metropolitan area. From Downtown Sundance Square in Fort Worth, SMU’s University Boulevard to the rebirth of Deep Ellum in Downtown Dallas, it isn’t hard to find locations to grab some friends, your favorite drinks and enjoy some great live music. What better place to experience this than at the Lizard Lounge, a Deep Ellum staple for the past 25 years.

Minnesota brought the bass at the Lizard Lounge on March 4th.

Established in 1991, the Lizard Lounge has hosted countless events from Thursday – Sunday 9 pm-4 am, making it an ideal spot for the explosion of electronic music into the area. This past Friday, the Lizard Lounge welcomed bass music artist Minnesota to the stage, bringing with him thumping bass and melodic mids to Deep Ellum.

Mashing together dubstep and hip-hop, Christian Bauhofer, aka Minnesota, gave the crowd a set filled with past hits, current smashes and a glimpse into the future of bass music. Ripe with melodic overtones, Minnesota incorporates big sound and tear-jerking melodies into each note hitting each attendee in the deepest of places.

Minnesota

One of my favorite tracks of his is “Stardust Redux.” While it doesn’t resemble the more popular Kaskade redux style, Minnesota adds a second spin to his own original “Stardust” that hits hard live and brought me back several years. The track debuted back in 2013 and still has the same feel 3 years later.

While this may only be a snapshot into a night at the Lizard Lounge, the iconic venue churns out these events like clockwork bringing great talent to the Big D. Find their upcoming schedule on Facebook or on their website including Andrew Rayel, Flux Pavilion, Jauz, Elephante, Mija and more. With free RSVP tickets available along with ticket prices that rarely exceed $30, the Lizard Lounge is a must-see venue filled with must-see events.
