The FunCity Stuff team is elbowing each other and grinning like schoolkids—four 40-somethings who are more into posh four-star meals than forty wide-open acres. But here we are at the Vogt RV Showroom in Fort Worth, about to expand our horizons and take a five-day road trip!
This 2018 Tommy Bahama 19-footer Airstream Trailer is already hitched to a pearl-white 2018 Ford Expedition, gleaming under showroom lights. The setup is long and lean—we are starstruck. We run our hands over the outside of the world’s most iconic travel trailer: The Airstream.
The bistro interior has Tommy Bahama style written all over it.
Our friends at 7 On A Shoestring shared their amazing 360-degree interior view with us! Feast your eyes on this sweet style and comfort of the Airstream 19′ Tommy Bahama Camper:

We choose our roles: Jody is Driving Director and Chef CEO; Roy is Master of Playlists & Facebook Commander; Renee is Captain Navigator and Group Comic Relief; and Andi is Event Boss & Queen of Essential Naps for Stressy Grownups. Together we are the FunCityStuff.com 2018 Kamp Krew.
On the Road
Finally we hit the road. The inside of the Ford Expedition is a luxury suite. We get to know some of the attributes of riding in the latest Ford vehicle technology. I admit we had to hit up some Ford how-to videos: Lane Keeping System? How to use the Pro Trailer Backup Assist? FX4 Off-Road Package? This v6 SUV was made to road trip. We are hooked.
I’m in love with the maxed out Expedition’s spinning rims. Yes, I’m 12.
You’re in control of every amenity, tool and feature in this 2018 Expedition.
My everyday vehicle is a fairly substantial SUV, but this Expedition has room without feeling oversized, is luxurious without being pretentious. While Jody drives, I’m in the back catching Z’s like a toddler with my own A/C vents, charging ports and snack sack on the floor next to my seat.
KOA: Kampgrounds Of Awesome
Ready to explore Hot Springs — 2018 Ford Expedition SUV
This is our first time at a KOA campground. Funny how you make some assumptions about camping. I’ve just never been “outdoorsy,” like pee-on-poison-ivy outdoorsy. It turns out you can find laundry, shower and bathroom facilities, pool, c-store, walking paths, a DOG PARK!! This Hot Springs State Park KOA even had a restaurant “Grandpa’s Griddle” that serves breakfast on the weekends! The place was gorgeous, all the facilities impeccably clean, and even after-hours check-in was a breeze.
Hey, that’s us! Map, key codes, and YES, the wifi password.
Always fans of the quirky and unusual, we learn there are unique KOA accommodations all over the world: Teepees? Check. Tree houses? Check. Uh, cabooses? Yurts??? Yes and yes. Nature’s AirBnB!! We had a 30-amp, back-in hookup. I also downloaded the free KOA App, which offered great tips about this campsite: map, amenities, rules and more.
This father and son pulled in on motorcycles and spent the night stacked like this in hammocks.
Our 2018 Airstream is definitely checking out this vintage Airstream hottie next to us.
There’s a camaraderie among campers: a wave, smile, nod. We had drinks and conversations with camp neighbors. We grilled almost every night and set up a special brunch outside the camper on Sunday morning with food we brought from home. One of my favorite souvenirs from the trip is this cute mug from the KOA gift shop! It even matched our tablescape! What luck! (It’s the little things, right?)
Of course we tooled around—scenic drives on mountain roads and exploring downtown Hot Springs. The Expedition handled tight turns and steep grades without a hitch. (Well, WITH a hitch, actually, since we left it on while we explored the area.)
Check out our two-minute video below to see the rest of our fun in Hot Springs, Arkansas: sightseeing, boating, tubing on Ouachita Lake; yummy seafood lunch at Fat Jack’s Oyster Bar and more.
Reluctantly, we packed up the Expedition Sunday morning. Jody backed the Expedition up, hit a few buttons on the Airstream hitch for a solid connect, and we were ready to hit the highway. We’ve been talking relentlessly together about our next camping adventure. Between Ford, Airstream and KOA, they made new happy campers out of us!
Disclaimer: We were loaned the Ford Expedition and Airstream Tommy Bahama Trailer for the sole purpose of this review. We were given a food/incidentals stipend as well.
This was very well written and I loved it!

Great pics! I should make a trip up soon!
That looks like a super fun camping (glamping) trip! That airstream is so so adorable. I want one!
I live about an hour or so from Hot Springs! It’s beautiful. Wish I could experience the way you guys did. Y’all traveled in style!
What a incredible experience and one I would love to check into and as for Trailer like this one it is my dream and I would like to have one to use as a office although my husband thinks I have lost it. But who cares mom’s needs there own space and this would allow me to have my own.
