Weekend whirlwind
It’s odd having a holiday in the middle of the week, isn’t it? Yay for picnics, water balloon fights and fireworks. But now we’re back to work and feeling like a deer in headlights. Best to start planning for the weekend and get over this weird holiday hangover.

Queso Festival in Denton
I make no secret of my love for Denton. This weekend, it’s a cheesy love. Mulberry St. Cantina is putting on this year’s Queso Contest. Walk in the door and someone hands you a bag of tortilla chips and you hand them a $5 donation: Proceeds go to the Denton Animal Shelter. Last year, this fun-due event raised a thousand bucks. You get to vote for your favorite, so show your support for the cheesemasters and the pets! So let’s taco ’bout it. Wait, it’s nacho turn. Ok, I’m done.

Yoga & Brunch at Pinstripes Fort Worth

Run For The Blue Dallas 5K and 1 Mile Run / Walk
Run For The Blue Dallas is a free 5K and 1 Mile run / walk to benefit injured police officers and their families. Donations are encouraged but not required. Donations go to the Blue Guardian Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which provides law enforcement officers across the country with financial assistance for personal work-related illnesses, families who are faced with loss of life, loss of income due to serious injury, life-threatening illness or any other catastrophic event.

Tour de Fort Worth: Alliance
This free bike ride will be supported by Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop, MedStar, and the FWPD. We’ll be riding a slightly long 20 mile route north from Alliance. This is a new stop for the Tour but sure to be a tradition in the making. Food trucks will be on site for a quick bite after the ride.
