It’s odd having a holiday in the middle of the week, isn’t it? Yay for picnics, water balloon fights and fireworks. But now we’re back to work and feeling like a deer in headlights. Best to start planning for the weekend and get over this weird holiday hangover.

I make no secret of my love for Denton. This weekend, it’s a cheesy love. Mulberry St. Cantina is putting on this year’s Queso Contest. Walk in the door and someone hands you a bag of tortilla chips and you hand them a $5 donation: Proceeds go to the Denton Animal Shelter. Last year, this fun-due event raised a thousand bucks. You get to vote for your favorite, so show your support for the cheesemasters and the pets! So let’s taco ’bout it. Wait, it’s nacho turn. Ok, I’m done.
Queso Qompetitors: II Charlie’s, Caskey’s, Game Changers / Dusty’s, Komodo Loco, Joel Ragland, Lucky Lou’s, Milpa, EastSide / Oak St., El Taco Taxi, Applejack’s, Miller, Mellow Mushroom, Susie’s Snack Shop
