Bedford Animal Control is actually a division of the Bedford Police Department, and is responsible for the care and custody of all impounded animals, animal quarantines, investigating reports of cruelty and enforcing animal ordinances, as well as doggedly (see what we did there) help find loving homes for animals in its care.

Bonus Fun Stuff: 13 Ways to Volunteer in Your Community.

As part of that last initiative, twice a year Animal Control holds a Pet Fair, and we went to our first one last year. It’s about two dozen or so tents and tables, chock full of learning and fun, and an opportunity to meet pet lovers from all over the area.

Last year we won a doggie seatbelt in a vendor drawing, received a goodie (doggie?) bag that included a leash clip-on poop bag dispenser, mobile watering bowls, and coupons to area grooming, boarding and vets. We have a mini Schnauzer who skitters along our laminate floors, so we keep her in non-skid socks, and we were thrilled to meet a vendor who sold these too!
