Updated for 2019

Ah, Valentine’s Day. You either enjoy the day with the one you love or you’re tortured by the exuberance coming from couples frolicking around you. Ew. If you want to avoid the lovey-dovey scenes, you’re in luck. Or if you’re both into horror, this may be the best way to celebrate VD as far off the norm as possible. Dallas-Ft. Worth has a rather unholy trinity of haunted houses that will be open on or around this love-or-hate holiday to enhance some relationships—and perhaps break others. Take a look at the attractions that will spook your love right in to (or right out of) your arms!

FEBRUARY 15 & 16: Moxley Manor’s Valentine’s Day Massacre

Although it will only open for one day, Moxley Manor is actually two haunted houses for their 8th annual Valentine’s Day event: Moxley Manor Haunted Attraction and Big Top Terror. Promoted as “a unique Valentine’s Day experience unlike any that you have encountered,” this enigmatic invitation is like an open door in an abandoned house; will you step inside? Moxley Manor is based around the story of Lillian Marshall Knox, a nurse who had been near every tragic death in the Knox family during the early 20th century. The death of five Knoxes took place in the east Texas town of Hemphill, and although Lillian was charged with murder by a sheriff on his last day in office, she was never indicted. The murder was of the last Knox left: her husband. So come on down to Moxley Manor and feel the love everlasting.  For tickets, click here.

FEBRUARY 16 & 17: Hangman’s 50 Shades of Fear

For an additional price, people will have the option of joining in on a live-action vampire hunt with real vampires crawling through the haunted house. If that’s not scary enough for you, Hangman’s is also offering a “Haunted Tour for Two” option where couples will be led through the attraction’s oldest most-haunted building and enjoy a candlelit dinner catered by Buca di Beppo within the building. Hopefully these haunted attractions will get you through the gaudy week while simultaneously give you a thrill lasting  until Halloween. Enjoy Valentine’s Day differently this year and step inside a haunted house. Who knows, you might find (or forget) love there.

Editor’s Note: Be sure to check with the venues for rules, what to do in case of inclement weather and make sure it’s not sold out before you go out without any backup plans.
