Bonus Fun Stuff: Keeping It 2016 with Sunflower Bean.
Their name might sound like a band full of hippies, but they are quite the contrary. Based on their sound, it seems the group is more concerned about jams rather than love songs. From Brooklyn, New York, Sunflower Bean describe their sound as ‘night music,’ which might bring to mind images of driving through a breezy, jaunty night with lowered windows. They’re the type of band to give a soundtrack to the closing of a day.
Formed in 2013, the band is comprised of lead singer and bassist Julia Cummings, guitarist and backing vocalist Nick Kivlen, and drummer Jacob Faber. After their inception, Sunflower Bean developed a keen understanding of psychedelic rock and jamming, leading to their January 2015 release Show Me Your Seven Secrets EP on record label Fat Possum Records.

The young trio continues to jam a year later having released their debut album Human Ceremony in February. Having embarked on a North American tour for the summer, Sunflower Bean is making a stop in Dallas this Friday, June 17th at Three Links.
