Bonus Fun Stuff: Fort Worth Food + Wine Festival Is Coming. Suit Up, People.
Walk into Fort Worth’s Black Rooster Bakery and a mix of sweet and savory smells greet you. Warmth emanates from the small eatery, both in the form of friendly faces and fresh baked goods. Known as one of Fort Worth’s premier bakeries, it is a breakfast and lunchtime favorite stop for locals and visitors alike.Founded in 2010, the bakery was originally opened to bring bakery goods made from scratch to the community and they continue to please our palates today. The eatery, open five days a week, opens at 7am Tuesday-Friday and at 8am on Saturdays. Those looking to enjoy a buttery breakfast pastry or hot coffee at the bakery line up early to grab one of the six stools available inside. Don’t worry, though; when it’s nice out there is plenty of seating outdoors. Lunch starts around 10:30 and the restaurant is open until four, plenty of time to get in and get something good.As a gluten-free foodie, there are not many allergy-friendly options, but I do enjoy their delicious lattes. It is a great place for me to bring friends and family who do not have restrictions and I love being a part of the joy in their experience. Some of the top picks include the bakery’s flaky Chicken Pot Pie. Piping hot and full of flavor, it is not served every day and all items are first come, first served. You can check the bakery’s Facebook page to see special “of-the-day” items. The breakfast Danish, available in flavors such as Crisp Pear and Cherry Chocolate Almond is a delectable way to start the day. The Sweet Potato Tart is also a seasonal favorite. For lunch, one cannot miss the wide array of scones. The Bacon Blue Cheese, the Gingerbread or the Mushroom Asiago all burst with flavor and offer something for every taste. If you want something sweet and sugary, tart and savory or creamy and comforting, Black Rooster Bakery delivers.Lastly, do not forget to peruse the darling selection of macarons before leaving; they are the perfect on-the-go snack, as well as making a beautiful gift.
